Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PruBSN) recently equipped its successful tablet-based mobile solution, PruBSN mobility, with CIMB Bank’s Plug n Pay. CIMB Bank’s Plug n Pay mPOS solution is powered by Soft Space.

Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PruBSN) has set another benchmark in the takaful industry with the recent enhancement of its successful tablet-based mobile solution, PruBSN mobility, now equipped with CIMB Bank’s Plug n Pay service that gives its customers the unrivalled ease and convenience with which to purchase its takaful plans instantaneously.

Leveraging on digital platforms has ensured PruBSN’s takaful offerings remain relevant to its existing and potential customers. The takaful operator also believes that the latest enhancement has provided its distributors with greater competitive edge and increased efficiency.

PruBSN mobility exemplifies how the leading takaful operator harnesses technology in a way that genuinely placed customers at the heart of its business. Introduced in December 2013, PruBSN mobility is part of PruBSN’s efforts to ramp up its distribution capacity. The app has brought a whole new customer experience while providing ease and flexibility to PruBSN agents and distributors to make complete sales submissions in a much faster, more efficient, and accurate manner whilst on the move. The automated functions eliminates usage of physical documentation which further reduces the impact on the environment. PruBSN mobility is a powerful tool that has transformed and simplified the way PruBSN conducts its business, and has essentially provided its customers with the service they deserve.

Plug n Pay by CIMB Bank is Malaysia’s first chip-based mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution that offers businesses of any size and segment an affordable yet secure way to manage electronic payments using their smartphones and tablets. With the Plug n Pay device, PruBSN customers now have the added convenience to make payments securely at real time using credit or debit card and further allow PruBSN agents to authenticate and track customers’ payments anytime and anywhere. This device is also customised to PruBSN mobility which makes it the first of such innovation in the industry.

Since its launch, PruBSN mobility has made more than 48,000 submissions and the number is expected to grow even more with installation of the Plug n Pay device as customers can now be covered within minutes.

The launch ceremony, held in Kuala Lumpur today, was officiated by Encik Azim Mithani, CEO of PruBSN and YM Tengku Dato’ Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Group CEO and Group Wholesale Banking of CIMB Group. Also present were Encik Shahrul Azlan Shahriman, Chief Distribution Officer of PruBSN and Renzo Christopher Viegas, CEO Group Consumer Banking of CIMB Group.

“This is a tremendous achievement for us. Our brand is strong and it is only right that we collaborate with a brand of equal strength such as CIMB Bank to protect more Malaysians and their families with our market leading takaful solutions. It is central for us to move towards providing our customers with a more holistic ecosystem where we aggregate value-added services with takaful coverage to fulfil the needs of sophisticated customers that we serve today. We want our customers to have the experience that they deserve as we understand that the financial decisions they make when purchasing our plan is one of the most important decisions in their lives,” said Encik Azim.

Meanwhile, YM Tengku Dato’ Zafrul added, “CIMB Bank at the forefront of digital banking aims to provide our merchant partners with daily tracking and settlement payment channels, anytime, anywhere. It also offers our end consumers a seamless secure banking experience. The beauty of CIMB Bank’s Plug n Pay solution is that it scales well to suit the needs of our end consumers, which can range from innovative SMEs to leading Malaysian financial services groups such as PruBSN. We take pride in how we’ve enabled our clients to expand their reach, creating exciting new possibilities for the creation of point of sales venues, as well as helping businesses reduce their liabilities and mitigate the risks of their sales force holding cash. I am proud to say that Plug n Pay by CIMB Bank is a revolutionary solution.”

“Our collaboration with PruBSN is one that CIMB Bank is truly excited about. The current environment requires the differentiation of products and services through digital innovation. Just looking at Malaysia alone, we are slowly but surely moving towards becoming a cashless society. Although almost 90% of Malaysia’s transactions are currently still conducted in cash, Bank Negara’s initiatives in electronising payments will pave the way towards an increasingly digital payment system, allowing Malaysia to reach the target of cashless transactions per capita from 44 to 200 by year 2020. Both CIMB Bank and PruBSN are firm supporters of this, and as we progress into the digital banking era, we aim to be enablers of a seamless and enriching customer experience. CIMB Bank’s Plug n Pay is a testament of our commitment to this positive change in the industry.”
